Table of Contents

For this table of contents, I removed the background from a photo I took at Ipso galley and started the layout with that image along the side. I sampled the colors from the original photo, with a series of pink streamers hanging from the ceiling. I played around with the idea of using the pink streamers as a design element in the table of contents, but changed my mind when it looked too “busy”.

For the fonts, I picked a combination of sleek, clean lines and more funky art nouveau lines because I liked the contrast of the two styles, and the more minimalist style of the Gotham Condensed font prevented the page from looking too “busy” or illegible. I like the frame because it breaks the page into smaller pieces and guides the eye to the headlines. There’s a balance of empty, “negative space” and design elements that give the page character.
